BEGINNER BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU CLASS

Beginners Class teaches the basic objectives of the main positions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Each position is taught from both the offensive and the defensive perspectives. Warm up consists of drills to improve the athlete’s physical ability, directly relevant to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After technical instruction, students are paired up to begin isolated positional sparring; this type of live sparring allows for beginners to directly practice the techniques they learned that day by starting from the exact position taught in class. This goes along with free sparring. This ensures that techniques are introduced in a systematic manner that allows for a progressively deeper understanding of the objectives and movements associated with each position. In addition, students are taught principals that make the process of learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu more efficient and they receive regular individual critique to improve their performance.

ADVANCED BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU CLASS

Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are usually a follow up to the techniques learned in the Beginners Class that focus deeper into the details, and more advanced variations of such techniques. The drills in this class will be more physically taxing than those in the Beginners Class. The goal of advanced drills is to continually commit to movements in muscle memory and help accustom the student to using proper technique, despite physical fatigue. The Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class emphasizes sparring and provides students with many rounds, starting both standing and on the knees.

NO-GI BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU CLASS

No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, also known as “Submission Wrestling”, applies all the same techniques and principles used in regular Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Although small variations are often necessary to transition between Gi and No-Gi, it is still important to train Gi Jiu Jitsu, even if you wish to compete entirely in No-Gi. Nearly all of the ADCC Champions (the largest No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament) train predominately Gi. Marcelo Garcia, believed to be one of the best current No-Gi competitors in the world, trains Gi five days a week and No-Gi once a week. At Fight Club Jiu Jitsu, we have two days dedicated to No-Gi instruction. We compete in both Gi and No-Gi competitions.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS (MMA)

Our MMA program is designed for everyone from beginner to professional level. Understanding that everyone has varying strengths in each area, we work with you to maximize your potential.

The classes focus around helping you put together your stand up, take down and ground game. While working with your stand up game, we teach how to set up take downs while preventing the take downs. When training on the ground we teach you how to deal with strikes, controls and submissions, thoroughly going over drills and strategies to make sure you are comfortable in any situation that may arise.

MMA Classes run for 1hr 15mis and are broken down into 3 sections. The first 20 minutes focus on conditioning, stretching, and drills to ensure you are warmed up correctly, avoiding any injuries allowing your best performance during the class. The next part of the class is technique. We teach you how to properly apply detailed techniques and correct any mistakes. Your questions are ALWAYS welcomed and ALWAYS answered. We encourage all of our students to bring all their questions to the class. You want to ask them here, NOT during the fight! The last 20 minutes is friendly sparring. You will be sparring with different partners and working in specific situations. (Stand up with take downs, ground with striking, defence and offense positions, etc). Safety and respect are our MAIN priorities for our students. While in class, you don’t have to hurt each other to learn how to fight. Fight Smarter! Not Harder.

MUAY-THAI

Develop your stand up skills with our Muay Thai classes. Striking is an exciting and essential part of mixed martial arts. In these classes you will learn how to throw your punches, kicks, elbows and knees with effectiveness and power. Classes include a quick warm up, followed by a lesson of detailed technique and drills. At the end of some classes you will get to use your newly acquired stand up game with some friendly sparring.
