High intensity interval training gives faster results because it kick starts your metabolism to burn more fat for longer. Whilst it’s true that a long slow walk burns more fat whilst you’re walking, the burn stops when you do. Interval training keeps your metabolism up for longer, and burns more fat.
Use a mix of cardio and resistance training to maximise the number of calories burnt. This also increases muscle tone and definition so you look fitter too!
Pay attention to the amount of carbs you eat with each meal, eating too much is a sure fire way to pile on the kilos. Don’t cut carbs out though, we need them for energy.

Avoid processed foods as they’re usually filled with junk calories – fat and sugar!

Drink two large glasses of water for every meal; a lot of people think they are hungry when really they are thirsty so drink regularly throughout the day.
Try to avoid carbonated drinks and too many sport drinks, try to stick with a good quality purified water keeping your body hydrated.

Combining these tips with a couple of fitness or martial arts classes a week (in which you could be burning up to 800 calories an hour) is a recipe to get in better shape. Not to mention all the other great benefits, like the extra energy you’ll have, or how you’ll sleep much better, even how you’ll feel calmer and more in control.
