DANIEL LIMA

4th Degree Black Belt

Daniel Lima was born on the 28th of December 1980, in Brasilia, Brazil. Growing up, he always had an interest in Martial Arts, especially the native martial arts of Brazil; Capoeira and Jiu Jitsu. At the age of 15, Daniel decided to focus all his energy into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Daniel soon made a name for himself as a strong competitor, winning competitions and titles all over the world in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. These titles include winning the National title in Brazil, the North American Grappling Association title in the United States and the XFC mixed martial arts title in Australia. Daniel has also competed in Japan, New Zealand and the Philippines, and has been ranked number two in the world by the Shooto Association which is the oldest mixed martial arts association in the world. Some major titles he holds are, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu National Champion, North American Submission Wrestling Champion and X.F.C Australian Champion.

However it is Daniel‟s teaching ability that has truly grown his reputation. Together in Brazil, he and Marcio Bittencourt combined their teams to form Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu, which became one of the strongest teams in Bahia, Brazil. From there, Marcio continued to grow and strengthen the team in Brazil while Daniel took Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu around the world. He taught in the USA, New Zealand and then finally Australia in 2003. Daniel is now an Australian citizen and has expanded Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu into a diverse and fast growing organisation in various locations throughout his new home of Australia. Daniel has lead Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu to win many championships, including producing world champions of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and international level mixed martial arts fighters.

Professor Lima also has extensive qualifications in the Martial Arts and Sporting areas including Cert II Sport & Recreation, Cert III Sport & Recreation, Cert IV Sport & Recreation, Cert III Fitness, Cert IV Fitness, Cert IV Assessment in Workplace Training, Diploma in Sports Coaching and Advanced Diploma in Sports Recreation, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Dynamic Simulation Instructor, Spontaneous Knife Defence Instructor, Senior First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Blue Card.

GAVIN HAIN

1st Degree Black Belt

Instructor Gavin Hain  started his training at the age of 12 in kempo karate and Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Competing in every competition that came up from point sparring, karate, Ju Jitsu, submission grappling, kudo and mixed martial arts. Competing around Australia along with representing his country in Europe at the age of 15 and and achieving his first black belt in Japanese Jiu Jitsu in Europe. Gavin opened up a club with a friend at a community hall for the under privileged before moving states to broaden his skills and beginning to train in kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He was a student who trained at a variety of different martial art clubs and competing in different styles on the Gold Coast before advancing into a qualified instructor of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and black dragon Kai Muay Thai at Fight Club Jiu Jitsu Miami.

In the past several years Gavin has reached his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – 4th Khan Black arm Band in Black Dragon Kai Muay Thai – In that time he has also competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi and No Gi) throughout Australia along with amateur Muay Thai and amateur MMA (XFC 19 winner & XFC 22 Title Fight Champion for Lightweight Under 70.6kgs) before moving on and fighting MMA professionally. Gavin also holds a Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness from the human performance centre in Miami.


KAELA BANNEY

Purple Belt

 Kaela brings over 15 years of martial arts experience to her classes. Starting at the age of 7 Kaela is a long-time student of Muay Thai and Grappling, growing up in Gladstone Queensland she made the move to the Gold Coast at age 19 to further her training and career. She has fought in amateur and professional MMA and Muay Thai events in both Australia and overseas totaling in 12 fights. She holds the current XFC Atom Weight champion Title, being the first female in Australia to win this title. Along side this she is competed in multiple Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions (Gi and No Gi) Throughout Australia including 2015 Australian National no gi Champion and 2016 Pan Pacific’s No Gi Champion.  Kaela holds a Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Brown Belt in Krav Maga, 2nd Degree Black singlet in Bob Jones Muay Thai and Black Belt in Zen Do Kai. Kaela has also completed her Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness, Certificate 2 in Sports Coaching and Certificate 2 in business.

Calvin Aston

Purple Belt

Calvin first started training martial arts at the age of 12 in the form of Sanda. (Chinese kickboxing) While living in Northern Ireland he studied a level 3 qualification in sports & recreation before moving on to follow the career path of being a chef within the busy nightlife of Belfast. In 2016 he moved to Australia & shortly after arriving on the Gold Coast started training Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Daniel Lima at Fight Club Miami. In 2018 he started training judo under Sensei Steve potter at Samurai judo club. Calvin has competed in numerous grappling competitions within Australia and currently holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu & a brown belt in Judo. Currently studying level 3 & 4 in fitness at ACFPT
